I have neck pain: what are my options?

July 3, 2013 - 11:00am PDT, 2:00pm EDT
Recorded in July, 2013

Physiotherapist Jordan Miller gave a presentation about the current understanding of neck pain and what treatment options are available for those who suffer with neck pain.

By watching this webinar, you will learn:

  • To understand neck pain and the natural course of neck pain if you choose not to get treatment.
  • To identify the treatment options available for neck pain and the evidence on the benefits and risks associated with each treatment option.
  • To make an informed decision on whether or not to seek care and what type of care to seek for your neck pain.

Jordan Miller, MSc PT

Jordan is a registered physiotherapist with an interest in all areas of persistent pain, including neck pain. He is currently completing his PhD at McMaster University investigating treatment of persistent non-cancer pain. Specifically, he is interested in the effectiveness of a treatment strategy that includes teaching people with pain about the physiology of pain and about self-management strategies to assist in reducing pain and resuming participation in activities that are important to each person. Jordan is also a member of the Cervical Overview Group, who complete systematic reviews on the treatment of neck pain. He understands it is important that not only clinicians understand the evidence regarding treatment options, but also the people who are experiencing neck pain. People can only make an informed decision on their own health care if provided with the evidence necessary to make that decision.

This event is co-sponsored by CIRPD, Pain BC and The Canadian Pain Coalition.
